Garlic & Spice Tea
this tea is chock full of the good stuff to help ease symptoms of a cold. or you can drink it anytime you just need to be warmed up. the star here is the garlic with its antiviral and antibiotic benefits that give your immune system a boost. the spices help warm your insides up & add benefits themselves. turmeric & ginger are especially good for a cough & sore throat.

  • 10-12 oz boiled water
  • 2-5 cloves garlic,1tbsp lemon juice,1/2tsp turmeric, chunk of ginger, 1-2 sticks of cinnamon (or 1/2tsp ground), and any other spices you’d like- (i used a spice blend of allspice, cloves, anise & orange peel). the measurements are just a guideline, you can play around with the amounts to your liking.
  • first crush the garlic and then let it sit for at least 10 minutes. doing this releases the allicin & all the beneficial enzymes garlic has.
  • pour boiling water over your spices & garlic in a tea infuser and steep for 10-20 minutes. If you don’t have a tea infuser just add the ingredients to a pot or mug and cover it to steep.
  • strain and drink. you can add some honey or more lemon to taste.

It’s apple season! Growing up in the apple orchard when I was little, I loved this time of year when we started to pick and make everything imaginable with apples. We dried them, made apple butter and apple sauce, pies and tarts…the list is endless!

Cutting apples into matchstick-sized pieces for a salad makes them just a little more fun to eat, don’t you think? Slice a few apples this way and toss them with chopped pecans (or any nuts), dried berries and raisins (I bought a mix at Trader Joe’s with golden raisins, blueberries and cranberries), plus some fresh cilantro. Dress with a bit of olive oil, lemon and salt. Sweet, Salty, Savory!

This week The Forest Feast turned 3, and I love that this little blog’s birthday falls during the harvest season. This week, our family is celebrating my favorite Jewish holiday- Sukkot, a harvest holiday where we build a little hut outside and have meals under it for a week. It’s so fun! And we’ve had warm nights here in the woods lately which has made it even better. I made this salad the other night and it was a hit.

Happy Harvest!

If anyone notices that the infamous biting gif imageset can’t be seen anymore, don’t be alarmed. Or you should? Idk.
Tumblr removed it.
So I went to remove the rest of them from my blog to comply with the rules.

Of course they removed it, because someone reported it. Probably more than one, from what they tried to “spread” so.. meh.. too many retards on the webs..

A handful of mini dragon eggs. That coat of paint really pops out the details on the scales. I love the copper and bronze ones the most. :D #handmade #polymerclay #miniatures #dragons #dragon #dragonegg #eggs #jewelry #necklaces #pendant #wip #ShadoCon
